ESCULTURA
In high school I wasn’t allowed to take any of the advanced classes, so they put me vocational classes. That is where they put most of the rowdy Mexican kids. I ended up taking FFA classes and four years of welding. All my classmates made bbq pits and header racks, I made abstract sculpture. I remember my welding teacher, a former rodeo bull rider, always lookin’ at me funny while he smoked his marlboros next to the oxy-acetylene tanks. We would all dip in class. Welding always relaxed me. Something about fire and electric current really made me get to my happy place.
