BUENA GENTE
The Buena Gente series is a body of work that intentionally utilizes oil painting portraiture as a device to properly document people who have been overlooked in the History of the American Southwest. This is an effort to challenge settler-centric historical presentations. These are the images of people who we don’t read about in American History texts. There was a strong intention to leave these people and their efforts out of the education system. These are people of the sun.
